DecisionBuilder offers numerous advantages for companies seeking to extend the functionality of their existing applications, especially within sales and marketing.
- Leverages existing IT investments. DecisionBuilder augments existing systems providing extended capabilities.
- Faster time to deployment. Replacing a major system to gain additional functionality can take years. DecisionBuilder, delivers new functionality in just weeks.
- Flexibility to accommodate changing business needs. DecisionBuilder makes it easy to make system changes and keep pace, even in the most dynamic environments.
- Lower training costs and minimal user disruption. Completely new systems are disruptive and training costs can be significant. Extending current business applications using DecisionBuilder can reduce training costs to a small fraction of what is normally required for a new system.

- Pre-defined plug-ins for analytics enable easy integration of data mining models in the decision process.
- Scalable architecture meets even the most demanding real-time or batch mode performance requirements
The DecisionBuilder platform contains three modules that perform different functions in the development and operation of application extensions. For more in-depth information, please request our white paper The DecisionBuilder Platform
- The Designer Module is a graphical user console for creating and modifying the business logic necessary to extend application functionality. Common extensions include the use of additional business logic, on-demand calculations, integrated analytics, and data collection and manipulation. The Designer creates 'services' which are published to the Server Module.
- The Server Module is a highly scalable engine optimized to process rules and decision logic ('services') created using DecisionBuilder Designer. The Server delivers outcomes to CRM, ERP, Call Center, Web Servers, or other application system destinations.
- The BatchRunner Module provides a console to process 'services' in batch mode. Powerful utilities allow scheduling, task management, and automation of non-real time processing.
The technology behind DecisionBuilder™ includes an innovative decision engine based on ASA's rule tree methodology and a 'Services" approach to deployment. Other products often use an inference based rule system approach. Inference based systems are powerful, however, they are inherently complex and require a significant investment to develop and maintain making them a cumbersome alternative. Also, most inference based rule engines must be programmed by application developers or other specially trained resources. DecisionBuilder was designed from the ground up as a platform that is used by business users and technical staff alike to easily extend and manage changes to business applications.
The QuickStart program is ASA's implementation methodology for assuring a successful deployment of your application extension project. It combines a phased development approach, hands-on training, and ASA's integration expertise, to show you how DecisionBuilder will work in your environment and meet your goals.
Through the QuickStart program your organization gains:
- A comprehensive understanding of DecisionBuilder capabilities.
- Proficiency with using DecisionBuilder modules.
- A plan for developing and testing DecisionBuilder in your production environment.
